Mediate with WhileWeHeal
One special use some couples can make of www.WhileWeHeal.org is to stop a move to divorce and instead agree on a No-Divorce-Today Separation. This is a separation that a couple defines together (for example, the activities the couple and the family may continue to enjoy together, help the couple may reach out for, and special ways to protect and reassure children). At the end of the separation, the couple can choose to stay married, begin a cooperative divorce, or extend their separation.
Here are some examples of No-Divorce-Today Agreements. But remember, these are only examples. A husband and wife will define their own separation.
The following questions can help you decide if a No-Divorce-Today Separation is right for you:
- Are you already separated (or are you about to separate)?
- Is your marriage safe for you and your children?
- Are you and your spouse open to putting off steps toward divorce and instead agreeing to what a constructive separation would be for you?
- Are you willing to avoid legal proceedings during a separation?
If you and your spouse answer Yes to these questions, you may each want to consider these three steps:
- Doing a thoughtful job on www.WhileWeHeal.org.
- Filling out the Intake for a No-Divorce-Today Separation.
- Discussing all this work with the assistance of a mediator or counselor to reach your Agreement.
We wish you and everyone in your family the very best.
